James, Peter Alywn 75 Pleasant Harbour died Tuesday, November 28 2023 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital Sheet Harbour. Born August 26, 1948, in Pleasant Harbour he was a son of the late Walter and Amanda (Beaver) James. After completing high school, Peter was in a car accident leaving him a paraplegic. He spent a year in rehab and a couple of years at home. He later gained employment with the Motor Vehicle Branch where he worked for a short period of time. He then worked in PEI with Stone & Webster in their office during the construction of the Confederation Bridge for which he was very proud. Peter was very independent. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and deer at his home. He was an avid Montreal Canadian fan. Peter also had a witty sense of humor. He played crib and enjoyed caring for his plants, especially his African violets. Peter is survived by sister Eva Matheson (Nelson Baranow), Catherine (James) Cameron, Anne (Keith) Borgal and brother John (Carol), several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Reynold. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 30th from 2-4 pm in DS Crowell & Sons Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7 Sheet Harbour. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 1st at 1:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church Tangier. Reverand Debra Burleson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, reception to follow at the Tangier Fire Hall. Family flowers only, donations can be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 6960 Mumford Rd Halifax NS B3L 4P1, or Holy Trinity Church Tangier. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
