Parks, Gary Douglas- 71, Lake Echo died suddenly Friday September 22, 2023 at home. Born in Pembrooke Ontario March 15, 1952 he was a son of the late Darb & Emma (Frost) Parks (Sheet Harbour). As a young man Gary went to trade school and obtained his metal machinist course. From there he worked at Hermes Electronics and then on to work with Defence Research Establishment Atlantic retiring after 27 years. Gary was a devoted father and an amazing Grampy G. His daughters and grandchildren were his world. He took great pride in his family and loved them beyond measure. Gary loved the outdoors, especially going to his camp at Creek Lake, fishing in the lakes and hunting in the surrounding areas was his passion. The camp was his home away from home. where you could be told hunting stories of "Old Terrible" getting away and "oh it was a big one, you should have seen him!". He adored music and playing his guitar. He also loved taking things apart and fixing everything in site, it was a rare occasion for him not to be working on some project in the yard. Gary was a member of Eureka Lodge #42 for several years. Survived by his children; Melissa (Curtis), Lake Echo, Andrea, Lochaber Mines, Brittney (Steven), Eastern Passage, grandchildren; Racquelle, Benjamin, Austin, Carsyn, Kylee, Zachary, and Natalya, brothers; Steven (Sherry), Spry Harbour, Andy, Dartmouth, sister Caroline Bond, Porters Lake, sister in law Jenny, Dartmouth, many nieces and nephews, as well as his ex-wife Mildred Parks. He also leaves behind many beloved neighbours and friends, especially close friends Fraser Martin and Bill Reid. Predeceased by brother Bill, brother in-law Wilfred, and infant granddaughter Leigha. Visitation will be held Monday October 2 from 11a.m. to 1:30p.m. in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2p.m. in St.James United Church, Lochaber Mines Rev. Karen Fillmore officiating, burial in the church cemetery, reception to follow at the Sheet Harbour Legion. who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
