There is really no words to describe how I felt today as we celebrated granddad’s life. He has always been my number one! But seeing how much he was loved by so many others has touched me. I am so proud to be his granddaughter. To everyone (over 250 people) who came to celebrate with us today it made my heart glad. The sadness I feel when I remember that I will never see him again hurts so much, but the stories and memories of granddad will live on in all of us for many years to come.
❤️
I love you Granddad

Hey Cecil, Tanya here buddy! Sorry I can’t be at your celebration of life today, I’m having some issues of my own here. So I’m gonna take this avenue to tell ya how I feel about you!!
You are a legend, a leader of the girls and boys in blue, that song ya can’t stop humming in your head, the sweet smell of pipe smoke we come across. Your smile that’s so infectious, you can’t help but smile through your eyes as well! Your stories and advice will carry on through all of us who have had the pleasure of knowing and working with you.
Do a round for us one last time Cecil, since we know you have the key!!!
Love you always and forever, rest easy buddy. Xoxo

Over the course of our lives we meet many people, Cecil was one of those special, wonderful people we were blessed to call friend. Whether at his cottage in Marie Joseph or at his home in Sackville, he was ready to prepare a meal, sit for a game of cards or play the accordion. Stranger or friend, all were welcomed by Cecil. What an amazing, generous man he was. He will surely be missed. Linda and family, we offer our deepest condolences to you and your family, lean on each other and on your friends during this time. Bill and I will be praying for the Spirit of God to surround you all as you go through this time of sadness.

I tried many times to write this as what do you say about the loss of such a dear sweet man. It is very sad that he is gone. I have such great memories of him. He was always kind to everyone. I always looked forward to his stories of growing up in Newfoundland and of his job. Whenever we went to visit he and Aunt Linda he always made sure you left with a loaf of bread and whatever else he had cooked or baked. He was always there to help whenever needed. I love you Uncle Cec and shall always miss you. Love Sherry

Please receive our sincere condolences to Cecil’s family. We were neighbours for many years in Marie Joseph where Cecil had a cottage. Many good parties were had at the beech with Calvin and his family. We were always welcomed and I would occasionally meet Cecil at the grocery store in Lower Sackville and talk about the cottage in Marie Joseph. He will be greatly missed.

When I look back on my memories of Cecil the first thing that comes to mind is the smell pipe smoke, pea soup, and humming “ dee diddily di “.
Cecil was the only man in Corrections who had a perminante seat reserved.... top step!
He always asked me how I was doing, and you could tell that he genuinely meant it.
He took me, and dozens of CO’s under his wing, teaching us how to be successful Correctional Officers. It didn’t take long to figure out the man carried a tremendous amount of respect from all the staff, and all the inmates.
The inmates looked to Cecil as someone they could count on and someone they trusted, someone they looked up to, and someone they feared.
They feared him not because he was a mean man, they feared him because if someone dare direspect him, they would have to answer to the inmate population.
In our world, that means that you have the utmost respect and rapport.
This is the highest achievement you could ever gain inside a prison in my opinion.
God broke the mold after Cecil, they just don’t make men like that anymore. A lot of people will be forever sad today, as one of the good ones has passed.
Thank you for teaching me all you could, and thank you for the memories.
You will be forever missed.

My heart is so sad, and I’m at a loss for words.
I worked with Cecil for close to 20 years........I had so much respect and love for him and the beautiful soul that he was/is........I’m so thankful I had some time with him just a week ago. He truly meant the world to me.....he had a beautiful heart and eyes that smiled whenever he saw me!
My deepest condolences to his family & loved ones.....this man was one of a kind and impacted many, many lives throughout his career in corrections....both that of the inmates and the staff that worked for/with him. He truly will never, ever be forgotten by those who were lucky enough to have known him!
I will never forget you....my dearest friend.......until we meet again! XOXOXOXO
