Obituary of Roderick Clifford Malay
Please share a memory of Roderick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roderick Clifford Malay brought joy to this world. Born to Clifford and Hazel Malay in Malay Falls, Nova Scotia on November 6th,1942. In his 79 years with us, his gentle patience inspired many to love deeply and care for each other. He lived in Halifax, Montreal and Fort Lauderdale, Florida but spent most of his days living in his Malay Falls home called Jasper Bog where he dreamed of a better world. From these dreams he created art installations, painted master works and built artistically inspired sustainable buildings.
His family would like to thank the heartfelt care he received in his final days from the staff at St. Martha’s regional hospital, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital and the EMS teams that brought this life-long rambler on his last drives.
Survived by his siblings Audrey (Bill) Glenn, Glen (Marie) Malay, Nora (Fraser) Currie and Judith (Gerald) Daye. He was father to Calhoun Keating Malay and Caigeann Thompson while holding a paternal role for many others. He was lovable “Uncle Roddy” to his nieces and nephews, as well as to their children and grandchildren. His life’s loves Lulu Keating, Gale Brown, Kim Thompson, Nana Iosava and Sharon Martin were all grateful for their time with him. He passed gently as the sun came out on this 23rd day of May, 2022. We are grateful to have been part of a life well lived, well-traveled and enthusiastically participated in. His epitaph sums up the energy he brought to life: I’d do it again.
Any donations can be made to your charity of choice or buy some art from a local artist. A ceremony will be held at St James’ United Church in Lochaber Mines, NS on June 4th, 2022 at 2pm. Condolences my be directed to www.crowellsfuneralhome.ca
