Obituary of Ruby St. Clare Knight
Ruby St Clare Knight 88, of Bedford passed away peacefully at Ivany Place on Tuesday, March 6, with family by her side. Born in Sheet Harbour, May 15, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Frances (Quillinan) Knight. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Halifax. She was a graduate of Maritime Business College. She began her working career with General Electric in Halifax for many years; later moved on to work for an architectural firm Mettam Wright Associates. Ruby was a private person, a kind, generous, loving sister and aunt who will be dearly missed. She was an avid reader and loved doing the lexicon puzzles. Ruby is survived by a brother Dennis Knight, Sheet Harbour, many nieces, and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Geraldine Rice; Ruth Rutledge; brothers, Basil, John, Lloyd. Cremation has taken place. No visitation as per wishes. Graveside service will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery, Sheet Harbour, Tuesday, March 13 at 2 pm. Father Keith Billard officiating. Special thanks to all staff at Ivany Place (Northwood Bedford West) Dr. Chris Ponnambalam; Dr. Jack Sommers; and Dr. Trudy Taylor for their excellent care and kindness over the past eight years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of your choice.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
