Obituary of Muriel Blanche Pace
Age 96, Ecum Secum, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax July 28, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Neil and Zelma (Boutilier) Jewers. Muriel was an assistant post mistress with her mother Zelma for 37 years and also a rural route mail driver for many years. Muriel was very community-minded and was very involved in volunteering in her community with many organizations. Muriel was one of the founding members of Ecum Secum Sunshine Club, also initiated homecare before it was recognized as homecare, looking after people in their homes. She was very actively involved in St. Paul's Anglican Church. Muriel enjoyed knitting, was an avid bingo player and local historian. Muriel was an extensive letter writer, with many pen pals around the world. Survived by chil dren, Lloyd (Barbara), Brian, Toronto; Barry (Nora), Halifax; grandchildren, Joseph (Karen), Duane (Kim), Andrew (Nicole), Alyssa (Brendan); countless great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhodessa Stacey, Loretta Moore, Frances Jewers (Doug Wattam), Barbara Fleet, Vivian (John) Dubé; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Bartlett; son, Gary; grandson, Jason; sisters, Esther, Elizabeth, Nola, and Brenda; brothers, Neil, Edgar, Burnell, Winston and Isaac. Visitation will be held Friday, March 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in Ecum Secum Chapel, 429 Hwy. 7, Ecum Secum. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23rd at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Mitchell Bay, Rev. Gary Barr officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in Ecum Secum Fire Hall following the burial. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
