Obituary of Shirley Elizabeth Power

Power, Shirley Elizabeth- 70, Murphy Cove, died peacefully Saturday November 9, 2024 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born May 28, 1954 in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth & Yvonne (Dorey) DeWolfe. In her early days Shirley worked at the Chowder Bowl in Halifax and then at a deli shop. She continued to enjoy her time in the kitchen making meals and baking for her loved ones all through the years. After marrying, she raised her family in Murphy Cove where she was very active in her community, volunteering with the Tangier Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and as a dedicated member of St. Denis parish, including singing in the choir. Shirley babysat many children over the years and later in life enjoyed working seasonally at Tangier Lobster. Shirley loved her grandchildren dearly and always cherished spending time with them, along with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing bingo and had a green thumb, proudly bringing many plants back to life. Another favorite pastime was playing cards and going on adventures with her beloved girl friends. Shirley is survived by her two sons; Chris (Amber), Chezzetcook, Nick (Lana), Sheet Harbour, grandchildren; Mya, Michael, Marlee and Cadence, sisters; Barbara (Conrad) Collier, Newfoundland, Debbie DeWolfe (Robert), Florida, Thelma DeWolfe, Alberta, brothers; Patty (Cheryl) DeWolfe, Owls Head, Billy (Michelle), Lake Charlotte, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life Michael, her sisters; Donna (Orville) Boutilier, Pauline (Francis) Fitzgerald, brothers; Wayne, Leonard and Michael. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday November 15 from 7-9pm in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday November 16 at 11am at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, burial at St. Denis Cemetery, East Ship Harbour. We’d like to say a very special thank you to all her homecare workers at Northwood for their warm comfort, and support. She always had really wonderful care and loved to see them coming. Another big thank you to all the staff at Eastern Shore Memorial for providing the best of care in her final days.
