Obituary of Madeline Mary Hardiman
Hardiman, Madeline Mary-72 Sheet Harbour passed away Monday October 29, 2018 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born April 19, 1946 in Sheet Harbour she was a daughter of the late Francis & Annie (Currie) Dugie. In her earlier years Madeline worked in Ottawa also at St. Mary’s & Mount St. Vincent Universities in Halifax. Madeline loved to play cards, listen to country music, dance, play the spoons and spend time with her family. She was a past member of St. Peters Church choir and the CWL. Survived by sister Eva (Orville) Mombourquette, stepsisters; Arlene (Fred) Keans, Thelma (Doug Quillan) Adamson, stepbrothers; Eldridge (Kathy) and Robert (Carol) Lowe, sisters in law; Mary Louise Dugie, Deloris Dugie, Irene Dugie, step sisters in law; Janet Lowe, Catherine Lowe, stepbrother in law Hughie McAvoy, nieces; Anne, Beth, Lynn, Terri, Connie, Susan, Natalie, Eva Jane, Leeann, Louise, Nadine, Bernadette, Karen Ann, Maria, nephews; Roddy, Randall, Arthur, Danny, Marty, Stephen, George, Wade, Frank, and many great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Raymond, stepmother Julia (Lowe), sisters; Patsy (Ray) Chittick, Shirley (Reginald) Daye, brothers; William “Billy”, Donald, Ernest, John, stepsister Muriel McAvoy, stepbrothers; Garnet and Arthur Lowe. Visitation will be held Thursday November 1 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday November 2 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour Father Fabian officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donation in Madeline’s memory may be made to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Harbourview Lodge and Dr. MacDonald for the kindness and care they showed Madeline and her family during her time there.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
