Obituary of St. Clair M.K. Whitman
Whitman, St. Clair M.K. “Clair”- 74 Port Dufferin passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side in Braeside Nursing Home on Saturday October 27, 2018. Born in Port Dufferin August 7, 1944 he was a son of the late Anderson & Doris (Croft) Whitman. Clair worked most of his life cutting pulpwood and doing carpentry work. He enjoyed his daily walks up the river to catch a salmon or trout and could hardly wait until the gaspereau came. Surviving is his wife Bonnie (Oickle), son Scott, Port Dufferin, daughter Michelle (Matt), Dartmouth, sisters; Marlene (Fred) Fisher, Dartmouth, Donna (Peter) McLaughlin, Hammonds Plains, sister in law Sandra, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Sherman. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday November 2, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 all in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Memorial service will be held Saturday November 3 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Port Dufferin Rev. Gary Barr officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, reception to follow in S.R. Balcom Community Center. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Clair may be sent to a charity of your choice.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
