John Edward McLellan of Port Dufferin passed away with the assistance of MAID on July 14, 2024 at the age of 87. At a young age John moved to Quebec where he worked for Gaspe Copper for 24 years. After getting married he moved back to Port Dufferin where he worked in several gold mines around the province until retirement. John was an avid outdoorsman, he spent most of his life in the woods hunting, fishing, trapping and canoeing or just working in the woodpile. John also enjoyed shooting at the shooting range on the weekends. He always loved telling stories about his hunting trips with his friends Henry and Brian. John had fond memories of his moose hunting trip in New Brunswick with Gordon and Paula Whitman as well as his hunting trip to Cape Breton with Rick Day. John is survived by his wife of 47 years Wendy (Oickle) McLellan, daughter Annie Oickle, son Kevin McLellan (Annie), grandson Thomas McLellan and brother Donald McLellan (Jeannette), as well as several nieces and a nephew. Predeceased by his parents Trueman & Lila (Casey) McLellan and sister Mary Cavanagh (Luc). Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or funeral by request. Thank you to all the staff at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital for their care.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
