ASPREY, RONALD GERALD- 88, Sheet Harbour died Saturday July 6, 2024 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born in Halifax, September 26, 1935 he was a son of the late Thomas and Helen (Gerrior) Asprey. In his earlier years Ron was employed with Metro Transit as a bus driver for 12 years. He was employed with Pinkerton Security at Mount Saint Vincent University, Abbie Lane Hospital, Lawson Graphics Ltd. He moved to Sheet Harbour in 1979 where he worked with security at Beaver Dam Gold Mine. He also worked with Eastern Shore Cartage and the Halifax County School Board. Ronnie was an avid Montreal Canadian fan. He was a backyard mechanic. Survived by children. Ronnie (Susan), Tony (Shelley), Shelly (Gary) and Lori; daughter in-law Jennifer Asprey, 19 grand children, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; also Ron and Roxy brought Arlene and Sonia in to their loving care; brother Donald "Duke" (Diane); sisters, Margaret Kennedy, Mildred Phalen, Edie Foster and Nellie Asprey; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife Roxy, son Jeff “Gump”; brothers, Jimmy, Jock, Tommy, Freddy, Billy, Joey, Eddie,Hughie,Henry and William in infancy; sisters, Marjorie, Joanie, Laura and Annie and Theresa and Cecilia in infancy. Visitation Monday, July 8, 2-4pm and 7-9 pm with prayers at 7:30 all in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home , 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. A celebration of life with prayer service will be held 2:30 PM, Tuesday July 9 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, Archbishop Martin Currie Emeritus officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial at a later date. Reception to follow funeral in the Sheet Harbour Legion. The family would like to thank the staff of Harbourview Lodge for their compassion to Ron and his family, Dr. Antony, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital staff , Archbishop Martin Currie Emeritus and D.S. who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
