Obituary of Jean Kathryn MacQueen

MacQueen, Jean Kathryn (Oickle)-87. Beaver Harbour, passed away peacefully June 27,2024 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born in Beaver Harbour August 2,1936 she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Viola “Olie”(Whitman) Oickle. Jean grew up in Beaver Harbour and after meeting her husband, Harold “Hallie”, they moved to Louisburg where they lived for 20 years. A place she truly loved and went back many times over the years to visit her many friends there. Jean and her family then moved back to Port Dufferin where she and Hallie owned and operated MacQueen Grocery in Port Dufferin. After her husband passed away she spent many years working at the Marquis of Dufferin. Jean was a very social person who was always ready to help and left us all with many loving memories. She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Joanne), daughter, Carol; granddaughter, Angie; grandson, Gregory (Cassidy); great grandsons, Kingston and Kylin; sisters, Bonnie Whitman, Wendy MacLellan; brothers, Austin Oickle (Jeannette) and Merrill. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold “Hallie”; sisters, Berle, Audrey (Boutilier) brother, Elwin; sister in-laws, Malda Oickle and Sheila Oickle and brother-in-law, Claire Whitman. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 7-9pm Friday June 28 in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Saturday June 29 at 2pm in St. James Anglican Church, Port Dufferin, Rev. Mike Foley officiating. Interment in the Beaver Harbour Cemetery, Beaver Harbour. A reception will follow in the Sheet Harbour Legion. Family flowers only donations may be made to the Beaver Harbour Cemetery C/O Matthew Spears.
