In 1991, while in the hospital in Vancouver going through tests to find out I had a tumour in my right lung, I was returning to my hospital room, upset, and found Eugene and Tracey waiting in my room, to have a visit. They were there because Randy (Mr White) was also at VGH and very sick. We both had surgery on the same day. We were in recovery at the same time. I’ll never forget that visit and the other times they visited while they were visiting their dad.
Eugene was a really such a nice guy! Those are first things anyone says when you mention Eugene.
We knew each other all through high school, and were in the same graduating class in 1980.

Eugene was always there to lend a hand. He was my neighbour at Obed in Alberta. . When I needed someone to help me dig a trench to install my invisible fence, he was there. It wasn’t an easy task but Eugene did it anyways! He was so good and patient with my big goofy dog, Tucker. Tucker really adored him. Eugene had a way with dogs, and I always jokes I would will Tucker to him if something happened
To me. RIP Eugene, you will be missed.

Eugene , you will be missed on earth here , but very welcomed in heaven with your mom ,dad and grandmother. Mooseland is the best place to live.

Eugene shines in my memory. Growing up in Port Hardy was painful at times, especially through the tumultuous, vulnerable teen years. So many people were unkind, lashing out of their insecurities. But not Eugene. He didn't say much but he was gentle and courteous and always, always kind. I felt safe around him. I understand why animals loved him. He really saw people, animals, beauty. He'll fit into heaven nicely.

Sincere condolences to all of Gene's family and friends. I will always cherish my childhood memories with him, especially of playing together in the brook at at his grandparents house with his toy float planes and hunting the alligator in his Nan,Olive's living room. I'm glad his wish came true to finally be able to live at home in his beloved Mooseland.
Wanda Dahr,
