Obituary of Michael Wayne Hilchie
Hilchie, Michael Wayne - 47, Popes Harbour passed away suddenly Monday, October 15, 2018 at home. Born December 21, 1970 in Halifax he was the son of Wayne & Mary (Cruickshank) Hilchie. Since childhood he had a passion for “big trucks” and always knew he wanted a career in truck driving, which took him all over North America seeing many sights and meeting new people along the way. Before children came along Tracey shared the love of the open highway with Mike and travelled along side of him. They got to see many places together, especially enjoying their time in California, Arizona and Myrtle Beach to name a few, creating many wonderful memories. He took great care of any truck he drove and especially took great pride and joy in the two Kenworths he owned. They were his home away from home. He spent many hours washing and polishing his trucks, sometimes with the help of his wife and sons. It became a “family thing”. Mike cherished his beloved Rottweilers Maggie and Abbey, they were his faithful companions always by his side. Mike always had a smile and a sarcastic joke and you knew he liked you if he poked fun at you, that was his way. He had a big heart always willing to lend a helping hand. When friends stopped in to visit you were guaranteed an offer of his favourite beer, a “Blue”. He is survived by his loving wife Tracey (Dominey) of 22 years, sons Zachary and Nicholas whom he was very proud of, mother and father-in-law Donna & Bill Dominey, sister and brother-in-law Tania & Chris Stevens, brothers-in-law Vince Dominey & Matt Doucette, nephew Matthew Stevens, great-niece Madisyn, many aunts, uncles and cousins. No visitation or funeral by request. There will be a Celebration of Life November 3, 1-3 pm at Tangier Fire Hall. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Society. Online condolences may be left at www.crowellsfuneralhome.ca
