Lauchie was highly regarded by my father, Palmer Croft, and my Uncle Lloyd Croft, for his kindness and many good qualities, not least being his sense of humour...and in Uncle Lloyd's case, at least, his skill at checkers! Lauchie's mind was quick and he was always entertaining. Fondly remembered.

A Tribute to Lauchie - A True Friend
Lauchie Horton was one of the kindest, most generous, patient of men I have had the privilege of knowing. Even though Lauchie was a friend, he was family to me. While I am saddened that Lauchie is no longer physically with us, the love and kindness he so naturally and genuinely extended to others remains very strongly rooted in the hearts of those lucky enough to know him.
A very sweet and gentle soul, with an immense heart, he was always prepared to offer his time to others. He was never rushed and always fully present; this is a unique trait in our rushed world.
Lauchie never denied helping those he loved. He was indeed an angel who walked among us. And now, in his departure from this world, it brings me great comfort to know that he watches his family and friends from his perch in the heavens. My sincerest condolences to Larry, Viola, Tara, Jason, Sylvia and family.

My deepest sympathy to Larry, Viola and the family. You were so lucky to have such a close relationship and now you will always have your memories of a life well lived. I have wonderful memories of many hours spent hanging out at the house on Lakecrest Drive, and of waterskiing and boating at Porters Lake. I will always remember Mr Horton as being kind and that big smile.
