Butler, Brenda Eloise- 93, Pleasant Harbour, passed peacefully Wednesday, August 30,2023 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. She was the first of eight children of the late Hillman Harrison Myers and Stella Roosevelt (Day) Myers of Myers Point. She is survived by one sibling, Edward A Myers of Myers Point; son Gary C Butler, Dartmouth ; daughter, Bonnie M (Louis) Lambert, Pleasant Harbour; grandchildren, Derek L Lambert, Pleasant Harbour, Chelsea A.M. Lambert, N.B. Predeceased by husband, Carson. Being the eldest of eight, Brenda was relied on to help raise her siblings. She walked them to school year in and year out and through unplowed snow covered roads in bitter conditions. Due to economic urgency she was pulled out of high school and started work at the Salmon River House near Myers Point. She worked cleaning houses at various locations in Dartmouth . During the war she moved to Musquodoboit Harbour to clean for her Aunt Laura Day. She assisted her as a switchboard operator. She worked in Meaghers Grant at a home to look after twins. After that she returned home to Myers Point. She met her future husband Carson Butler at the famous Beech Hill Dance Hall. After a courtship they were formally engaged for two weeks before being married. Over a year later they started their family in Pleasant Harbour. The family would like to thank the staff of Harbourview Lodge for their care and kindness to our mother. A special thank you to Bonnie Lambert for all of her time and thoughtful directions for our Mom’s care. Visitation 7-9 pm Sunday, September 3in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Tangier from where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 4, Rev. Debra Burleson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the Tangier Fire Hall.
