DeWolfe, James Lionel “Jim”- 88 East Ship Harbour it is with sadness we announce the passing of Jim DeWolfe on August 1, 2023 surrounded by his wife Mary and family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born August 1, 1935 in East Ship Harbour he was a son of the late Lewis and Rose DeWolfe. Jim had a full and eventful life starting at age 14 when he first went to sea on a cable boat laying Trans Atlantic Cable from Nova Scotia to England. He spent many years at sea on tankers, gypsum boats and a small stent on lakes in Ontario, allowing him to see the world. He worked several jobs in between and finished his career with 27 years as a school bus driver and custodian at DMHS. Jim was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle, who loved flowers and keeping his yard pristine. The only sport he enjoyed was trout fishing. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary, sons; Terry (Cheryl), Wade (Darlene), Shawn (Kelly) and Mark (Kathy), 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers; Robert, William, David, Wilfred, Joseph, Paul, Adrian, Wade, Brent, Johnny and sister Rosie. No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held Saturday August 5, 2023 at 6p.m. in St. Denis Church Hall 15473 Highway 7, East Ship Harbour Archbishop Martin Currie officiating, burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in St. Denis Church Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Denis Cemetery Fund. Online condolences may be directed to www.crowellsfuneralhome.ca

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
