Obituary of Vivian Gertrude Fleet

Fleet, Vivian Gertrude, died Thursday April 20, 2023 in St. Vincents Nursing Home, Halifax. Born in West Hartford, Connecticut USA September 7, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Flora Alexandra (Langille) Hiltz Turner. Vivian moved to Martins River Lunenburg County in 1930 with her family, she then moved to Halifax in 1945 and worked for Cousins Limited for 9 years, married and raised her family. Worked for Canadian Linen for 7 years, then at MacDonald Restaurant on Herring Cove Road for 7 years as a hostess, where she won several awards and made many friends. She lived on Chebucto Road for 25 years before moving to Fleet Settlement in 1990. She loved to knit scarves and dish clothes and gave them to family and friends. She is survived by son Arthur (Anna) Fleet, daughters Karen (Pierre) Sevigny, Cheryl (Rick) Chevrefils, grandchildren; Cindy (Larry) Waite, Nadine Marriott, Jessica & Jeffrey Fleet, Jordon Mallais, Anthony, Connor & Brooke Rothmaier, Mathieu (Gianna) Sevigny and Arielle Sevigny, foster grandchildren; Jennifer, Amanda, Jessica Chinn, great grandchildren; Colton Page, Trenton & Taralee Marriott and Mackenzie Fleming, several great great grandchildren, sister Helen (Graham) Pace, Halifax, sisters in-law Ann Publicover, Nanaimo BC, and Clara Hlitz, Fleet Settlement. She was predeceased by loving husband of 51 years Gerald, daughters Darlene and Flora,grandson Terry Fleming, sister Grace Snow, , son in-law Douglas Fleming, brothers Donald Hiltz and Walter “Goof” Hiltz, nephew Randy, brother in-law Bill (Gwen) Fleet. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Saturday April 29 from 10:30a.m. until 12 noon in Ecum Secum Chapel 429 Highway 7 Ecum Secum. A graveside Committal will be held immediately following the visitation in St. Barnabas Anglican Cemetery, Ecum Secum. Family flowers only, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
