Obituary of Carter Mark Boutilier

Carter Mark Boutilier 70 of Sheet Harbour- loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend-after an 8 year courageous battle with lung cancer, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on March 14, 2023. Born September 11, 1952 in Sheet Harbour he was a son of the late Mark & Alma Boutilier. Carter had a fulfilling career at Moirs Chocolates, and enjoyed many activities such as snowmobiling, vehicle maintenance, driving his motorcycle, and lovingly caring for his dogs. Carter also loved to attend many dances in the community, you knew it was going to be a good time when he got the cowboy boots out. In earlier years, Carter enjoyed playing softball in the local mens league. This love was passed onto his children, and grandchildren. Carter’s love for his family will be greatly missed, by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Boutilier (MacKinnon), son Mark Boutilier of Sheet Harbour, Barbie (Adam) Hilchie of Cole Harbour, Matthew (Nicole) Boutilier of Spryfield. Forever with a guardian angel are his 3 grandchildren Destiny, Hayden and Quinn. Survived by his brothers Murray of Sheet Harbour, Darrell (Marianne) of Windsor and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Linda Rose, brothers Ronald, Billy, Cyril, Glenn, Tom, Miles. Father and Mother in-law Peter and Doreen MacKinnon, who were like second parents to Carter, his two nieces Natasha and Tanya, and nephew Keith. A huge thank you to Dr MacDonald for his years of excellent care. Family flowers only. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 18 at 2pm in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating, followed by burial at St Peters Catholic Church cemetery. Reception to follow at the Mushaboom Fire Hall. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
