It is with sadness and heartache, we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Doris. Known for her delicious meals, deviled eggs and baking, Doris will definitely be missed at our family functions, not to mention her laughter and savy dance moves! (Sorry sis!) Doris enjoyed her daily, if not hourly online chats with her sisters and chosen sister Vicki, but most of all the fun and adventures with her sisters... the stories she could tell! Doris's heart was full when she got to spend time with Victor and Donna, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in peace beautiful soul, you will be missed by all who knew you. Survived by son Victor (Donna Martin)Rhyno, Grandchildren Jamie (Brittney Lucas), Katelyn (Daniel) Levy, Great grandchildren Aubree, Kinsley Levy, Randy, Cora Rhyno Sisters: Viola (Nathaniel)Malay, Jan (Barry)Gerrard, Verlie (Darren)Andrews Brothers: Melvin, Ricky (Diane), Danny (Rose), Steven(Sandy) Doris was also stepmother to: Dougie (Lorna Lyons), Bonnie (Victor Boutilier), Lindsay, Danny (Joan), Darlene (Joel Boudreau), Shawn (Heather Myres) and Marylou (Randy Publicover) Also a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Douglas Martin, son Randy Rhyno, parents, Cameron and Ina (Borgal) Laybolt, sister Alice(Charlie) Hilchie and brother James in infancy. No visitation by request. Graveside service Friday Jan 6, 2022 at 3pm in Holy Trinity Church cemetery, Tangier, NS, Rev. Andrew Cooke officiating. Celebration of Life following at her home 16975 Highway 7 Pleasant Harbour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Trinity Cemetery Fund 17326 Highway 7, Tangier N.S. B0J 3H0. Special thanks to: Tangier Fire Department, EMOs and RCMP officer, Bruce and Elicia, Crowells Funeral Home all of whom treated her with utmost respect.

who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
