Anselm Hann posted a condolence
Friday, September 9, 2022
My condolences to Gordon's family and many friends during this great loss.
When I would play and sing for the people at Bissett Court, Gordon was available every day to ensure his loving wife Bernice, received an abundance of TLC but would take time on Fridays, once a month, to join me in entertaining everyone, client, and staff alike.
He, the master fiddle player, would shower ME with compliments and say nothing of himself about how we clicked together. This musical treat was the highlight of the week for many!
He made his way through life using all the unique talents he possessed.
He was loved by many and held in the highest esteem by all.
We kept in contact during COVID but eventually, time took its toll.
I will hear you, my friend, playing one of your compositions, my favorite, "The pothole jig!"
Rest in peace dear friend.
Anselm Hann and family.

I was so sorry to hear of Gordie's passing . I would always stop and have a little chat with Gordie before I would visit with my mum . Was lucky a few times to hear Gordie play his fiddle , keep playing up above and give some people some joy . Rest In Peace.
From my mum Alice Findley

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in Gordie’s passing. My father Harold Smiley and my mom Irene were friends with Gordie and Bernice, dad playing his dobro and Gordie with his fiddle spent many toe tapping sessions in their kitchen. Gordie was a very special man with a big heart, a great talent and a twinkle in his eye. Always makes us smile when we think of him. Our deepest sympathies-Lawrence MacQueen, Joanne Smiley MacQueen and Irene Smiley

Over the years we enjoyed our chats with Gordie during our visiting & volunteering at Bissett Court. He was such a dedicated spouse to his wife Bernice, it was very rare that Gordie wasn't there everyday visiting her. He would join in occasionally playing his fiddle with Ralph, Clarence & Wes entertaining the residents at Bissett Court. It was such a pleasure for my sister Irene & I to reconnect & spend a bit of time there with Jacequeline, Sheldon and the extended family. May he rest in peace knowing that he left behind fond memories to others. Deepest sympathy to the family.
