Obituary of Joyce Caroline Webb

Joyce Webb (91), Tangier NS- Joyce (May) Webb passed away peacefully on August 26, 2022 at Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour, with family including her cat, Missy Valentine, by her side.
Joyce was born on September 2, 1930 and raised in Tangier, Nova Scotia by her beloved Gram (Sadie MacDonald).
After High School Joyce attended Normal College in Truro and then taught in Pleasant Harbour School, Nova Scotia. She later was employed at the Registry of Deeds.
Wanting to raise a family she turned her attention to being a stay at home mom and community leader.
Joyce was a life long member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church serving on the Altar Guild, ACW, Church Council, Church Hall manager, along with teaching hundreds of girls in Junior Auxiliary (JA). In later years she took on the project of organizing Christmas shoe boxes for the Mission to Seafayers.
Joyce also served on the Board of Duncan MacMillan Nursing Home/Harbourview Lodge and was an active member of the Palliative Care Association. She also fundraised for a variety of charities throughout the years including Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke. Her volunteerism did not go unnoticed receiving Volunteer of the Year from HRM in 2007.
One of Joyce's passion, besides baking, was her love of politics. She lived for political debates and worked tirelessly on numerous political campaigns for all 3 levels of government. She was a life long member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia.
Left to mourn is her daughter Jean (Scott Clarke), step-granddaughter Nicole Clarke, and great-grandchildren Maddison and Alex along with her special cousins Will (Nancy) Mason and Ken Mason; brother-in-law Ray (Rita) Webb; and sister-in-laws Elaine (Duncan) Mason, Stella (Phillip) Boutilier, Patricia Boutilier, Cecelia (Louis) Boutilier, and Helen Webb.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years Gerald Webb and son Gerald Phillip, in infancy.
Vistation will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm with prayers at 8:00 pm. Requiem Eucharist will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Tangier on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Mike Foley officiating. Masks are requested. For those wishing to remain in their vehicles the funeral service will be broadcasted on 105.5.
Reception to follow at Tangier Fire Hall.
No flowers by Joyce's request please. Donations can be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Mission to Seafayers, or a charity of your choice.
Thank you to all the staff at Harbourview Lodge for their compassion and kindness shown to Joyce and family during her short time there. A special thanks to Joyce's Guardian Angels on earth sister-in-law Elaine Mason and friend Lauralee Kennedy for their constant presence and support to Joyce and family during this difficult time.
