Obituary of Barry Lewis Sharpe
Please share a memory of Barry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barry Lewis Sharpe; loving husband, Dad, Papa, fixer of many things, white hat to many home construction jobs, professional torment and retired heavy equipment operator died peacefully on July 22 2022 at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital in Sheet Harbour at the age of 75.
Barry is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Lowe); children, Rick (Natasha) Sharpe, Diana (Bernie) Rossong, Ashley Sharpe (Jason Bezanson); grandchildren, Cole, Aiden, Emma, Miranda, Cameron, Joel and Lucas; sisters-in law, Ann Sharpe, Brenda (Merle) Carver, Verna (Jack) Stewart, Carol Castle (John Gilford), and Darla Fleet; brother-in-law Danny Lowe, and many treasured nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Beulah Sharpe; mother and father-in-law Heck and Dot Lowe; brother Dennis Sharpe; brothers-in law Robert Castle and Phillip Fleet; and nephew Shawn.
Barry was born in Moser River, NS on July 1, 1947, and has been entertaining the world since with his playful nature. He married the love of his life Cheryl on March 18, 1972 and they worked side by side with many laughs until the end. Though 75 years old he kept the spirit of a teenager throughout his life, whether it was getting into trouble with Jack Stewart or ripping through the trails with buddy John Gilford. He worked magic with a D8 as well as running other heavy equipment for numerous companies over the years with his son Rick usually next to him-working all over the Atlantic provinces together. Working away most of the time and still doing mechanic and body work in the back yard, helping anyone who needed it and building any contraption he might need to keep his family going; whether it be a home-made tree farmer, belt sander made from a mix master, parts washer from a carpet cleaner or anything in between.
Barry was a devoted husband, an amazing father and a proud Papa. He lived his life on his own terms until the end and he had no problem proving you wrong if you told him he couldn’t achieve something. He loved fourwheeling, listening to music, going to his camp, having a drink by a campfire, rescue missions with/for Rick, fishing, hunting and spending time with friends and family and teasing everyone he’s ever met. He never hesitated to lend a hand (or more likely a winch or tow) to anyone who needed it. He had the best sense of humour and outlook on life and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Special thanks to the home care nurses for their kindness and ability to take Barry’s teasing in stride. All invited to bring your stories and mishaps with Barry to a Celebration of Life between 3:00 pm and 7:00pm on Thursday July 28th, 2022 at Moser River Community Hall.
