Obituary of Norman Sylvester Barkhouse

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Norman Sylvester Barkhouse of Port Dufferin, aged 94. Norman passed away peacefully at the Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital with his loving wife Sally by his side. Predeceased by his son-in-law, Phillip MacDonald; and great-grandson, Johnny. Survived by his loving wife, Sally of 66 years and his 11 creations, Steven (Jackie) of Murphy Cove; Wayne (Ruth) of Pine Falls Man.; Patsy of Port Dufferin; Laurie (Tracey) of Cole Harbour; Larry of Port Dufferin; Leila (Jerry) of Port Dufferin; Janet (Robin) of Truro; Tony (Kelly) of New Russell; Wendy of Port Dufferin; Angie (Dan) of Elmsdale; and Andrew (Karen) of Port Dufferin. Dad was a loving family man who will surely be missed by his 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grand-children. Upon dad’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Norman’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Twin Oaks and Eastern Shore Memorial Hospitals for their care and kindness during this difficult time. Family, friends, and community members are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday July 16th, at 11 a.m. in Samuel R. Balcom Community Centre. who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
