Cooper, Donald Charles- 89 Murphy Cove, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 31, 2022 in Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage with his children by his side. Born June 4, 1932 he was a son of the late Gerald & Harriette (Martin) Cooper. In his early years Don worked in the lumber camps, however, most of his life was spent as a heavy equipment operator throughout Nova Scotia with Tidewater Construction, Woodlawn Construction, L.J. Casavechia Ltd., Roy Judge and Municipal Construction Ltd. He loved hunting & fishing. He enjoyed community card parties with friends and he would never turn down a good meal and a hot cup of tea. His biggest joy was children and animals. Don enjoyed reading in the later part of his life, he enjoyed telling and listening to stories, socializing with his new and old friends from years gone by. Survived by his wife of 60 years Jean (Leslie), son Johnnie, daughter Jackie (Roger Harmon), brothers; Harold (Irma), Frank, Morton (Anita), Glen (Judy), sister Joan, sisters in law Sharon & Betty and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Jim & Gerald “Junior”, sisters Sadie (Laurie) Zwicker, Dorothy (Charlie) Purdy and sister-in-law Donna. Cremation has taken place. At Don’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. A private burial will be held at a later date. In closing, there are not enough words to say thank you for the genuine kindness, dedication and compassion from the personal care workers and staff that looked after our husband/father on Shoreside, Ocean View Manor, especially during the challenges they faced over the last two years. They were his extended family and for all of this we will be forever grateful.
