Obituary of Joyce Virginia Scott

Scott, Joyce Virginia- 94, Dartmouth died Wednesday April 13, 2022 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born September 13, 1927 in Watt Section she was a daughter of the late Reginald & Nellie (Smiley) Rutledge. Joyce worked at the old Co-op store in Sheet Harbour, she also had jobs over the years at Al’s Grocery Store in Dartmouth, as well as an insurance company. Joyce also worked over 50 years for Havill’s Mobile Home Park in Westphal. Joyce and Bruce started the Scotia Bowman Archery Club which is still going today. Joyce competed in many provincial and national archery championships where she won the nationals once and made many friends across Canada as well as in the United States in this sport. Joyce enjoyed travelling with Bruce in their trailer through out Canada and the Unites States. Joyce enjoyed knitting and many hours would be spent on afghans and other items. Survived by sister Darlene (Ed) Hingley), Debert, nieces Cindy (Ken) Grist, Stephanie (Sandy) Chisholm both of Truro, Stephen (Sheila), Stellarton. Predeceased by husband Bruce and brother Laurie Rutledge. A private family graveside committal will be held Friday, April 22 at 2p.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Cemetery, Watt Section. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrews Cemetery, C/O Barry Verge, 31 Harbourview Drive, Sheet Harbour, N.S. B0J 3B0 or Dartmouth General Hospital. The family would like to thank the Milford Base Paramedics, the Doctors and Nurses at the Dartmouth General Emergency Department as well as those on the 5th Floor. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
