Obituary of Lawrence James Keefe

Keefe, Lawrence James “Bub”- 61, Ecum Secum passed away Saturday April 2, 2022 with his loving family by his side in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Halifax July 13, 1960 he was a son of the late William & Thelma (Fleet) Keefe. After leaving school Bub worked for Percy Bezanson in the woods cutting pulp wood, which he did for 30 years. He then fished lobster, starting in 1998 until the time of his passing. Bub and Louise enjoyed going to their second home at Lochaber Lake for 5 years, enjoying family and friends and especially the pontoon rides on the lake after supper. They enjoyed going down south for 5 years, when he was down there he enjoyed his favourite drink, mud slides. Bub played guitar and sang in the Triple B band for many years. He enjoyed hunting deer with his son Coady, their trip of their lifetime was when they went to Cape Breton to hunt Moose. He played baseball with the Ecum Secum Eagles, a member of the Ecum Secum Fire Department, and a member of the Ecum Secum Orange Lodge. Bub enjoyed playing darts and hockey, he was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs Fan. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, he loved when they came to visit. Survived by his wife of 38 years Louise, twins Courtney (John Timmons), Coady (Nicole) both of Ecum Secum, grandchildren Madison, Rory, Blake, Sadie and Darcy, sister Amanda (Randy) Turner, Marie Joseph and several nieces and nephews, mother in law Maude Fleet. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the care and compassion shown to Lawrence and his family while he was a patient at the QEII VG Site 6th and 9th floor and St. Mary’s Hospital, Sherbrooke. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
