Obituary of Allan Stephen Barkhouse

Barkhouse, Allan Stephen “Bug”- 51, Pleasant Harbour, formally from Sheet Harbour, died suddenly Wednesday February 9th, 2022 as the result of a car accident in Morrell Siding, NB. Born in Sheet Harbour, May 22nd, 1970. He was the son of Stephen and Rose (Gillis) Barkhouse. After graduating from DMHS Allan attended community college in Dartmouth for cabinet carpentry. After leaving there he worked for several contractors before being employed with Jacko Construction, for a number for years until he moved to British Columbia. While there he worked for several contractors doing renovations, timber framing construction and commercial buildings. In his spare time Allan enjoyed the outdoors, panning for gold, hunting and fishing, which his father taught him. He enjoyed kayaking, hiking and traveling with his wife and best friend. Allan was a volunteer fire fighter first with Sheet Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, Ground Search and Rescue and also with the Cherry Creek Fire Department for over 25 years combined. Allan loved his Ford Mustangs and trucks, traveling across Canada which he made many trips, going to Cuba with his wife and fishing and hunting with his children in British Columbia, catching the big ones. Survived by his wife of 23 years April, children; Ocean (Eddie) Johnson, Port Alberni, BC, River, Bailey and Brook all of Prince Rupert, BC, Storm and Rayna both of Pleasant Harbour, sister Annette, Lake Charlotte, Mother and father-in-law, Beverley and Richard Naugler, brothers in law; Toby (Bev), Jody (Julie), sister-in-law Buffy, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by Uncles; Bob, Ross and Hughie, Aunt Rose, grandparents Allan and Olie Barkhouse and Alphonse and Gladys Gillis. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7 Sheet Harbour. Due to COVID restrictions space is limited and only the first 50 people will be permitted. Proof of vaccination, photo ID and masks are required. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
