Obituary of John Thomas Andrews

Andrews, John Thomas “Jackie”- 70, Sheet Harbour died Monday December 6, 2021 at home. Born in Sheet Harbour July 8, 1951 he was a son of the late James Edward & Pearl (Boutilier) Andrews. Jackie left school at the age of 15 and went to work in the lumber woods with his brother-in-law Hubert Boutilier to help support the family. He also worked for several contractors over the years including Scot Paper Co., Riverside Logging, was foreman for George Stronach Woods Contracting for 12 years. He worked for Bluewater Stevedoring as a labourer, hatch tender and crane operator. Jackie formed his own company in 1995 and retied in 2007. Jackie was a member of Eureka Lodge #42 for 41 years, serving as worshipful master from 1985-1986. He served as Chaplin for 30 years, served two terms as District Grand Chaplin of Halifax Co. District 2, also held several other offices and was a recipient of the meritorious service medal in 2010 which he was very proud of. Jackie was a member of the Shriners for many years, a church warden at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mushaboom. Survived by his wife of 51 years Margaret Rose, son Darren (Verlie), daughter Beverly (Gary), grandchildren; Melita, Ava, Cameron, great grandchildren Carson and Austin, sisters; Pauline Cooper, Mary Hilchey, Barbara Cameron, Jane Andrews. He was predeceased by brothers James and John William, granddaughter Kathleen in infancy and sister Joyce Boutilier. Visitation will be held Friday December 10 from 2-4 & 7-9 with a Masonic Service at 7:30p.m. family prayers at 7:45 in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7 Sheet Harbour proof of vaccination, photo ID and masks are required. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 11 at 11:00a.m. in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mushaboom Rev. Tricia Ingram officiating proof of vaccination, photo ID and masks are required. Burial at a later date. Reception to follow at the Mushaboom Fire Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mushaboom.
