Obituary of Faith Delores Webber

Faith Delores (Keating) Webber Age 68, East Chezzetcook It is with great sadness and broken hearts we announce the death of our wife/mother. Faith peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her love ones Thursday, March 4, 2021. Faith was the oldest daughter of Doug and Gloria (Power) Keating. Faith was born on June 20, 1952 and raised in the little fishing village of Little Harbour on the beautiful Eastern Shore. Faith is survived by her caring and devoted husband, Eugene; son Stephen (Kim) Webber, Chezzetcook; daughters Patricia (Eric) Fauteux, Lawrencetown; Cheri (Nick) Wade, Gaetz Brook. Grandchildren Corey (Kyle), Dillon, Joseph, Emma, Sawyer, Jean-Luc, Oliver; brothers Seldon, Grant, Doug, Cyril; sisters Sheila, Becky, Myrene and many nieces and nephews. As a young girl, you would often find Faith picking berries with her father or siblings, jumping ice clampers, swimming off the wharf or whitenaping cod, rowing a dory out to rake Irish moss, cooking and baking with her mom, or having a wiener roast at the back cove. At the young age of seventeen, Faith met the love of her life; a handsome, soft-spoken, gentle young man, Eugene Webber, from Clam Bay. Eugene won her heart on the dance floor. They courted for a short time before they wed on her 18th birthday during a stormy rainy night in June beginning their 50 year journey. Faith and Eugene started their married life living in Dartmouth and in a few years made their way to Little Harbour. Over the next 8 years their union blessed them with three beautiful children. Working hard together as a young couple they built a new house where they would provide a warm loving home for their children. As they watched their children mature into young adults and begin their own lives, Faith was never happier and proud as when they became grandparents to seven remarkable fun-loving, inquisitive, adventurous grandchildren. Faith took joy in teaching her grandchildren the finest things in life like how the birds calm us when we need it the most, the act of jumping in mud puddles, respect for mother nature as they played in the ocean and explored beaches, getting their hands dirty digging in the garden, and planting and harvesting the potato and carrot crop in her garden. Faith was always happiest when her house was full of people and she was sharing her love of food and cooking. No one ever left her home without an armload of her amazing preserves. You really don’t know Faith unless you know her passion in life; the ocean. You would often find her at 3am down at the wharf waiting to jump in the first boat going out mackerel jigging. Faith took pride in letting everyone know that she went boogie boarding in the Atlantic Ocean every month of the year; whether that was wearing a wetsuit or jeans and a turtle neck. Her biggest “fish story” though was the 37lb Marlin she caught in Hawaii. Faith had various jobs throughout her life. She worked delivering mail for many years, doing odd jobs and cleaning for people, and cooked at various locations. In 2005 Faith and Eugene decided to explore the North and go to Yellowknife where Faith quickly worked herself up to the Assistant Manager at Tim Hortons. Their desire to be closer to family, love for the east coast and to be near the ocean brought them back after several years where they settled into their “little piece of heaven” with an view like no other. Faith enjoyed her time with her seven siblings and extended family at their many gatherings playing cards, talking and laughing so loudly one couldn’t hear themselves think. She also enjoyed her many road trips she took with her sisters and her mom with always at least one ice cream stop daily. Now let’s be honest, as fun, loving, and caring as Faith was there was that other side. The side that made sure you hung the clothes out properly, you made and heated up tea properly, that you properly folded the towels and sheets, how to precisely cut up your vegetables and the need to manually put extra water in a high efficiency washer for the clothes to be washed “properly”. Faith was always there for those she loved and willing to lend a hand. She was a loving, courageous and determined woman. This was never more evident then during the last three years as she went through her illness. She met this battle head on and did it on her own terms. Always with a positive outlook and making the best of each day. A LIMB has fallen from the family tree that says Grieve not for me, Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was STRONG. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 11th from 2-4 and 6-8 at D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home following Covid-19 Public Health orders with mask being worn at all times. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
