Obituary of Harold Henry Malay

Age 80 , East River Road, Sheet Harbour passed away Sunday, No vember 1, 2020 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care, Sheet Harbour, with his loving family by his side. Born March 26, 1940 in Malay Falls, he was a son of the late Enos and Leone (Russell) Malay. When he left Malay Falls he worked odd jobs until he was employed with Nova Scotia Power as a trolley bus driver then Halifax Transit and Metro Transit retiring as Safety Supervisor in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing crib, and pegs and jokers. Harold and his wife Frances were foster parents for 60 children in a period of ten years. He was a Scout Leader for several years, a member of Sheet Harbour EMO and Sheet Harbour ATV Club. He was an Elder at St. James United Church, Lochaber Mines and a member of the Cemetery Committee. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances; daughter, Susan (Richard) Collier, Pictou Landing; son, Kevin (Karen Patterson), Nine Mile River; grandchildren, Adam (Nickey), Alex, Emma; great-grandchild, Blake; sisters, Christena (Gordie), Sackville; Virginia, Malay Falls; Linda Frail, Westfield; Elsie (Ervin) Beaver, Sheet Harbour; brothers, Nathaniel (Viola), Pleasant Harbour; Ronald (Patricia) and Brian (Susan), both of Spry Bay. Predeceased by brothers, Frank, Bradford and Russell. Cremation has taken place. Family funeral only will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 6th in St. James United Church, Lochaber Mines, Rev. Karen Fillmore officiating. Public graveside committal to follow. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required. Family flowers only. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
