Obituary of Sheila Marie Mary Hawes

Hawes, Sheila Marie Mary- 76, Spry Bay, passed away Monday May 25, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born August 17, 1943 in East Ship Harbour she was a daughter of the late Walter & Nora (Gallant) Monk. Sheila was very dedicated to her family, she loved animals in general, but especially hummingbirds and her dog Boo Bear. Sheila loved to hear about the lives of her grandchildren and all of her nieces and nephews and their children. She worried about everyone and was the ultimate “Mama Bear” when it came to her family. Her favourite pastime was to play cards with her friends and was fiercely competitive. Her most favourite thing to do was be with her family especially when they would all come together to play their guitars and sing. She would often record these times and play them back for when they were not able to be together. Survived by her husband of 28 years Wendell, daughter Joenna (Tim) MacDonald, Fall River, 3 grandchildren Noah, Jill and Sophie, sisters Geline (Tom Cahoon), Virginia (Jerry Fahie), brothers Charles Monk, Oswald (Leola), sister in law Mable, brother in law Ralph Murphy. Predeceased by brother, Christopher Monk, sisters, Juliet (Clyde) Grosse, twin sister Shirley Murphy, sister in law Marilyn. Cremation has taken place, there will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. Donations in Sheila’s memory may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church, Spry Harbour.
