Obituary of Roy Melvin Wambolt
Age 76, Sheet Harbour Passage, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by family. Born in Sheet Harbour Passage June 13, 1943, he was a son of the late Melvin and Irene (Fraser) Wambolt. Dad worked a variety of jobs over the years, including dynamite man with Garvey Smith and later silviculture for Scott's Paper. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, he loved fishing, hunting and trapping. Dad had a love of country music and started playing guitar and singing at a young age. He is survived by daughters, Sheila (Harvey) MacKinnon, Wanda Boutilier (Danny); son, Roy Jr. (Colleen); grandchildren, Megan, Mitchell, Jennifer, Justin, Ryan, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Sophia, Bethany, Michael, Nathan, Emily; brother and best friend, Lou (Ruth), Sheet Harbour; sister, Jean Newcombe, Halifax; and special friend and companion, Mary Rose Pettipas. He was predeceased by wife, Mary (Gillis); and sister, Ruth Jollymore. Visitation will be held Friday, September 20th from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Hwy. 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21st at 2 p.m. in St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Sober Island, Rev. Gary Barr officiating. Reception to follow in Sheet Harbour Legion. Family flowers only. Donations in Dad's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. We would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the palliative care unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, the support and care given to Dad and the family was amazing. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
