Obituary of Carl St. Clair Behie
Age 82, Rocky Brook, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro. Born in Sheet Harbour October 21, 1936, he was a son of the late Earl and Dora (Rutledge) Behie. Carl was a police officer with the Halifax Police Department for several years, was employed with Nova Scotia Power as an operator at Ruth Falls. Carl was owner/operator of the Fina garage and Esso for a number of years. Carl was also an investigator with the Motor Vehicle Department until his retirement due to health reasons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, getting out in the woods with nature and small engine repair. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; children, Bobby (Bonnie), Lower Sackville; Debbie (Larry) Rutledge, Sheet Harbour; Gordon, Ottawa; Ricky (Paula), New Glasgow; Tammy (Scott) Butler, Lower Sackville; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Bevis, New Glasgow; Elizabeth (Dugal) Prest, Mooseland; brother, Ronald (Sharon), Sand Point; Sidney (Andrea), Sheet Harbour. Predeceased by sister, Teresa Spears; brothers, Basil, James, Dougie; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Bria. Visitation will be held Friday, August 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. all in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 24th at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, Father Fabian officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, with a reception to follow in Sheet Harbour Legion. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Church or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Colchester East Hants Health Center and Braeside Home for Special Care for their care and kindness shown to Carl and his family. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
